Metal Additive Manufacturing For Defense Programs

The defense industrial base wasn’t built for this moment. We are.

Qualified metal parts at production volume, with surge capacity built in.

Defense manufacturing was designed for a different era — one of long lead times, offshore dependencies, and fixed production lines that cannot surge when a program needs them to. The parts that protect people, from weapons systems to propulsion components to precision hardware, still move through supply chains that were never intended for the speed and resilience these programs now demand.

The gap between what defense manufacturing requires and what it can currently deliver is not a secret. It is a procurement reality that program offices, primes, and policymakers are actively trying to close.

Seurat was built to help close it. Seurat Technologies produces metal parts using Area Printing®, a metal additive manufacturing process that requires no part-specific tooling.

Qualified parts when you need them. Surge capacity when it matters.

Area Printing produces metal parts at volume, domestically, with a cost structure that can make reshoring not just possible, but practical. For defense manufacturers, Area Printing reduces single-source offshore dependency, builds surge capacity into the supply chain, and provides a domestic source for critical metal components from a partner that is building the qualification, compliance, and production foundation required to scale.

This is not additive manufacturing as a workaround. It is a fundamental shift in what domestic defense production can look like — and what it can do.

Seurat’s defense qualifications and program participation.

Seurat holds approved access to military technical data through the Joint Certification Program (JCP) and form DD2345. Seurat holds a Federal Firearms License for the manufacture of firearms components. Seurat is part of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory Innovation Studio, working inside one of the most demanding qualification environments in the US government. Seurat is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

America Makes and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) selected Seurat as one of 25 companies for the JAQS-SQ program (Groups 2 and 3), a $10.5 million initiative funded by the Manufacturing Technology Office of the Office of the Under Secretary of War, to qualify and expand the metal additive manufacturing supplier base for national defense readiness. JAQS-SQ standardizes additive manufacturing training and audits, aligns suppliers with acquisition requirements, and accelerates the onboarding of non-traditional vendors into the defense industrial base. Other awardees include Collins Aerospace, GKN Aerospace, and Eaton.

These credentials reflect the seriousness with which we approach this work. But they are the starting point, not the story. The story is what Area Printing makes possible for the manufacturers and program offices ready to think differently about how defense parts get made.

The industrial base that protects America deserves technology built for what comes next.

Scale Your Possible.
